Do I really need travel insurance is a question we hear all of the time. The answer is YES!!! Here’s why. Your time and investment in a vacation are valuable. Why not protect them? It not only covers your actual vacation, but some policies also include medical and dental benefits that can be used to supplement your personal health insurance. It also includes roadside assistance. Let’s face it, a flat on a major highway can be a huge inconvenience and scary at times.

One of my favorite things to do on vacation is eat! I love to try new restaurants and new types of food while traveling. Orange Beach and Gulf Shores are home to so many wonderful restaurants that aren’t the normal tourist trap places. Don’t get me wrong those are great too, but if you want to check out where the locals go check out this list!
–
Orange Beach Restaurants
Pierhouse Restaurant and Bar – This gem is truly a local hotspot! Chef Chappy locally sources all of his ingredients and has a menu that has something for everyone! The Crab Bisque is the best I have ever had! Oh and don’t get me started on the Bread Pudding! It’s a must every time I visit Chef Chappy! Check their menu out here! https://www.pierhouseob.com/
Mile Marker 158 – This quaint spot sits right on the ICW near The Wharf. I have not had one thing off of their menu that has not been phenomenal! My favorite appetizer is the Truffle Seasoned Chips. It comes with a charred 3 onion dip that is out of this world! You can find their menu here https://www.milemarker158.com/
Big Fish Restaurant – Do you like sushi? If so Big Fish is your place! Their sushi is absolutely amazing! On top of being the go to for sushi their bronzed catch of the day with mashed potatoes and spinach is to die for! I’ve had this multiple times with different types of fish and all have been fantastic. Especially the triple tail! Here is their menu https://bigfishrestaurantbar.com/
Voyagers – This fine dining restaurant is located in Perdido Beach Resort. The atmosphere and food here is incredible! Try the Hanging Tenderloin, you won’t be disappointed! Check out their menu here https://voyagersrestaurant.com/
Gulf Shores Restaurants
The Tin Top Restaurant & Oyster Bar – This is one of my absolute favorite places in Baldwin County! While not technically in Gulf Shores city limits (it’s technically located in Bon Secour) this restaurant is totally worth the 20 minute drive to get there! Their sautéed crab claws and ribeye are so good you will plan to go back each time you vacation here! Some might even say it’s so good you will want to move here! They are also famous for their bushwhackers! Their menu can be found here https://www.tintoprestaurant.com/
Gulf Island Grill – Located right in the heart of Gulf Shores Gulf Island Grill delivers yummy island flavors with a laid back vibe. The Gulf Island Ya-Ya is delicious! You can find their menu here https://www.gulfislandgrill.co/menu
Sunliner Diner – Ok, hear me out, while this technically could be considered a tourist trap it is definitely worth a try! I absolutely love the theming of this restaurant and sometimes I just want a home cooked meal without the cooking part! I have had just about everything on the menu and I can’t choose a favorite! If you’re adventurous try the Elvis Presley Shake. It’s not on the menu anymore but they will still make it for you! Here is the menu for this blast from the past https://www.sunlinerdiner.com/gulf-shores/
Crico’s Pizza – Again, hear me out, still technically a tourist trap but once you have tried the Cricostix, you can’t live without them! Everything on their menu is killer. Including their hot wings! They have just enough bite but they aren’t so hot that you can’t taste anything else. Check their menu out here https://www.cricospizzaandsubs.net/
I hope this list helps with your planning! There are many more restaurants to choose from, so if you don’t see anything you like, give us a shout and I’m sure we can point you in the right direction!
We know that planning a vacation can be stressful, so we’ve put together a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions. If you have a question that is not here, feel free to contact us!
What will be provided in my rental?
Our units come with starter amenities such as one roll of paper towels, 1 packet of dishwasher detergent, one roll toilet paper per bathroom, 4 towels, 4 hand towels, and 4 wash cloths per bathroom. The kitchens are fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware, utensils, and dishes. All units have coffee pots.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent. Please bring your own beach towels as we do not provide them. You may also want to bring beach chairs and a beach cart.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check in is at 4 p.m. If you would like an early check-in, please contact us 24-48 hours before your arrival. Early check-ins are not guaranteed. Unfortunately, there are rare times that you may have a delayed check-in to ensure the unit is ready for your arrival.
Check out is at 10 a.m. Please remove all trash from the unit, load and start the dishwasher, and turn the thermostat to 75 before your departure.
Do you provide beach amenities?
Roberts Brothers Vacation Rentals provides 1 beach umbrella in each unit. These umbrellas are available for purchase if you would like. There are several companies that offer beach essentials. Two that we recommend are Ikes Beach Services (https://www.ikesbeachservice.com/) and Gulf Coast Rental Co. (https://gulfcoastrentalco.com/).
Can our pets join us?
Here at Roberts Brothers Vacation Rentals, we understand that fur babies are a part of the family. We proudly offer multiple pet friendly homes for rent.
We want to grill while we are on vacation. Is there a grill at the property?
Each of our units have access to grills. All homes have grills for your use. The condo units either have electric grills on the balcony or there are charcoal grills on the property. Please do not use a charcoal grill on a balcony as this is a fire hazard.
What do I need to do before I check-out?
We don’t want your last few hours of vacation to be full of stress about cleaning, so we ask that you remove all trash, load and start the dishwasher, and turn the thermostat to 75. You don’t have to worry about doing anything else!
What is your cancellation policy?
Reservations canceled 60 days or more prior to arrival will receive a 100% refund. Reservations canceled between 60-30 days prior to arrival will receive a 50% refund. Of course during this pandemic we are doing our best to work with our valued guests. If the beaches are closed, guests who cancel will receive a full refund.
When is my last payment due?
Your final payment is due 30 days before your arrival. If you paid by credit card to book your reservation, the system will automatically deduct your payment from that account.
What if there is bad weather?
All guests have the option to purchase travel insurance at the time of booking. We strongly recommend purchasing insurance in the event of inclement weather and other hindrances of your vacation. Roberts Brothers Vacation Rentals will not issue refunds unless there is a mandatory evacuation order for the island.
What’s the difference between renting a hotel and a condo?
Our condo’s come with a kitchen that is fully stocked to cook as many meals as you would like. Just bring your groceries! In a condo everyone has their own space instead of everyone being in one room.
How old do you have to be to rent one of your properties.
The minimum age requirement is 25. This is not a Roberts Brothers Policy. This policy comes from the many HOA’s and individual owners. We cannot make any exceptions.
How can I book a reservation with Roberts Brothers Vacation Rentals?
Booking is super easy with us! You can either book here on our website, or you can give us a call at 251-422-4154.
Can I make payments on my reservation or do I have to pay it in full?
You can make as many payments as you would like! Once you book you can access the Happy Stays app and make a payment there or you can always give us a call at 251-422-4154.
Do you provide high chairs or cribs?
Roberts Brothers Vacation Rentals has high chairs and pack and plays for rent for a small fee.
Do you have long term rentals?
Yes! We have several properties in the Fairhope area that are available for monthly rentals. Roberts Brothers also has a long term property management company if you need something for more than 6 months. You can check out their website here https://www.robertsbrothers.com/propertymanagement.
Can we purchase travel insurance?
Yes! Roberts Brothers Vacation Rentals has partnered with the leading insurance company in the industry! You can purchase travel insurance at the time of booking.
Can I smoke in my unit?
Absolutely not!! Please refrain from smoking in the units. You will be charged if you do! All condo complexes offer a smoking area for your convenience. If you are renting one of our homes, please do not smoke with doors open. Also, please be kind to our wildlife and beautiful scenery and pick up your butts!!
Can I set up a tent on the beach?
Tents and shelters larger than 7 feet by 7 feet and taller than 4 feet are not allowed on public beaches, unless the tents/structures are placed in the designated area at Gulf Place. Individual property owners may allow tents and shelters on private property north of the city pole markers provided.
Can I shoot fireworks on the beach or have a bonfire?
The answer to this is simply no. This is against city ordinances and could potentially harm our wildlife friends.
Is there enough parking for my boat trailer?
Generally speaking, if you are staying at a condo the answer is no. The only exception to this is if you are staying at the Caribe. Caribe offers trailer parking for a small fee.
We need to bring an extra car. Can I purchase extra parking passes?
Unfortunately parking is extremely limited in both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. We are not able to sell extra parking passes. There are several options for parking extra cars. Check out premiumparking.com.
Can I bring my dog on the beach?
Unfortunately both cities of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores have ordinances that do not allow dogs on the beach. There are a few places in Fort Morgan that are dog friendly. Orange Beach and Gulf Shores do have amazing dog parks for your 4 legged babies to roam and play.
